I hope that you and your families were able to enjoy a long and restful summer. While it was hot and humid for a good portion of it, there certainly were plenty of opportunities to sit back, relax and enjoy life. Back in June I encouraged everyone to allocate enough time for your relationships. This included your family, your friends and (yes) yourself. When these critical relationships are neglected, our support structure (externally and internally) suffers. It was hoped that you could make the time available to help fortify the bonds of your family, nurture your friendships and feed your own spirit.
In order to have well-rounded and fruitful relationships, we first need to ensure that our own spirit is active and continuously attended to. If we do not actively govern our spirit and subconscious mind, something or someone inevitably will (and most often to our detriment). The world around us is ever changing and chaotic to say the least, and can easily distract us from what should be the focus of our labors. Importantly, these distractions can direct us towards wasteful and destructive thoughts or behaviors. It is important that we be mindful of such distractions and focus on that which rightly deserves our attention: brotherly love, relief and truth.
By believing in and following our core principles, it is difficult to err. In like manner, by forgetting them we are almost guaranteed to fail. Brotherly love: demonstrating tolerance and respect; Relief: aiding those in distress; Truth: being honest with ourselves and those around us. If we maintain these principles as the basis for what we do and think on a daily basis we, without knowing it, make the world a better place. I am looking forward to seeing you all very soon at lodge
Sincerely & Fraternally Yours,
