Master's Message for Summer 2026

“Learning from the Past to Prepare for the Future”

Brethren,

As the warmth of June settles upon us and the light of the summer season reaches its fullest measure, we find ourselves standing at a remarkable and historic moment in the life of our lodge. This month, we gather not only as brothers, but as caretakers of a legacy stretching across two centuries, as we celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Atlas Pythagoras Lodge No. 10 and commemorate this milestone with our long-awaited gala event. Two hundred years of labor, fellowship, charity, and brotherhood have passed through these halls, carried forward by generations of Masons who each added their own stone to the structure we now inherit. Yet just as Masonry teaches us the value of labor, it also teaches us the importance of refreshment. Soon, our lodge will go dark for the summer months—not as a retreat from our obligations, but as an opportunity for renewal and recalibration. The summer season reminds us that balance is itself a virtue. Time spent with family and friends, moments of rest and reflection, vacations with loved ones, and the quiet restoration of mind and spirit are all essential to maintaining harmony within ourselves. The summer solstice, with its longest day and fullest light, has long symbolized illumination, growth, and the turning of seasons. In many ways, it mirrors our own Masonic journey. After seasons of labor come seasons of reflection; after building comes restoration. As the sun reaches its height and gradually begins its return, so too are we reminded that life moves in cycles, each one offering lessons and opportunities for improvement. May these summer months strengthen us physically, mentally, and spiritually, so that when we return to lodge in September, we do so with renewed purpose, willing hearts, and a stronger commitment to the brotherhood we share. Fraternally,

Fraternally,

Michael T. Russell
